Translating George MacDonald's Scottish Novels
In 2016, The Works of George MacDonald initiated a long-term project to create Scots-English editions of all of MacDonald’s “Scottish novels,” meaning those which feature significant amounts of dialogue in Scots. When such dialogue appears, the books use a two-column format, with the author’s original text appear on the left and an English translation on the right. Two Scots-English editions have appeared to date: Robert Falconer and Castle Warlock, and a third, Sir Gibbie will be published by Christmas, 2018.
