One of my favorite illustrators of MacDonald from the 20th century was F.D. Bedford - and Greville MacDonald clearly agrees with me (ha, ha) because he chose Bedford to illustrate several of his father's books as well as some of his own. In another post I will show several centenary editions of ABNW from 1924 illustrated by Bedford.
This edition of P&G (c 1926) was reprinted in 1930, 1935, 1937, 1938, 1940, and 1943. So it would seem my edition is from 1943 right during WWII. This as part of MacMillan's Children's Classics Series. The color frontpiece is the same as shown on the dustcover. The interior has both full page and smaller line drawings which are very attractive.
The dust jacket shows the price of $1.25 and is recommended for ages 10-12.
